Merry Christmas

I've been so busy over the last month I've not had time to do much and almost forgotten about my blog. Shame on me.

I had a surprise exhibition this December at Newington Library in Edinburgh and have so far sold 8 paintings from it! Gasp! So its been a very unexpectedly successful surprise last minute show.

I also recently announced my baby news. Due in June and having fun so far. Pregnancy so far hasn't made me ill, just tired. And its very exciting to expand on our wee Morgan family.

So Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you have a brilliant time with your family and loved ones. New Year 2010! A NEW DECADE! Are you excited? Got any interesting plans as we catch up with the future...

I am.. 2010 looks like its going to be a stonkingly fantastic year, my first baby, lots of painting hopefully, materinity leave, a trip to Australia with baby, and then I have my exhibition in San Fransisco to plan and hopefully go to this time next year. So much excitement in store.

I'm also exceedingly excited about my Christmas present to myself and from Ben. A new computer! Bouncing for joy. I get it this afternoon and can't wait to play with it.

Seasons greetings to you all!

lots of love from me!

Me against the universe

I've been having on of those weeks. It feels like everything is against me at the moment. First RSA couldn't type my titles correctly so they informed me about only one of my paintings - leading me to believe I had successfully entered the other, when I had not.
And yesterday I was in the mood to contact lots of galleries so painstakingly set about writing to each one of them. And somehow hotmail messed up the names. So each one was addressed to Dear Le Saint gallery. When I specifically remember typing each name separately.
Exasperated to discover this hotmail treachery, I wrote back to everyone apologising for the error. LOL Phew... You'd think it was all over...
Last night I actually got a reply for one of these galleries asking for more details. So I sent a detailed email with prices etc...
And this morning I woke up to find a reply from him just checking the decimal position of my paintings apparently in the 3000's... AGH Unbelievable. Hotmail has been screwing with my life. But I've not given up yet! It's me against the universe and the universe is loosing! Wuhahahahaha!

I hope your week is going better than mine...

And here is my most recent painting. First time I've painted on deep canvas and I love the depth of this, So I'll have to go buy some more...

Postal Strike Rant

I'm just so over this dam postal strike. Its so unnecessary. The workers at CWU and Royal Mail must honestly live in a time warp of job security, while the rest of us slog our guts out all year long to keep out jobs, millions get laid off, we struggle to keep out businesses a float and the tossers at royal mail thinks its totally fine to strike week after week, meanwhile they can't even string together a coherent arguement for why they are striking! It makes me so angry! Why are we so so utterly powerless to complain out this? Why is the government not doing anything to sort it out! It's our service. And they are royally fucking it up. We won't have a universal postal service at the end of all of this. Its so sad. IDIOTS all of them. They should all be fired and new workers should be hired. Millions of unemployed in this country, I'm sure some of them would like a well paid, unskilled postal job.

Exhibition news

I recently posted 4 paintings to San Fransisco for an exhibition run by a friend of mine from DeviantArt. Jimmy McCullough Just heard today that he receieved them safely and the group show will go up next week. They will hang for all of next year in a new Japanese restaurant and next November I will perhaps get to visit for the 2 month feature of my work that is planned. VERY EXCITING! So I'll have to ship alot more painting next year for that.

I also have an exhibition coming up in November in Edinburgh for Cancer Research.

So lots of exciting things to look forward to!

Halloween soon... Have you seen my Halloween Tree print available for sale now!

My first blog

This is my first blog!
I intend it to be where I can blog about my art works and what I am doing in in my other life as an artist.

Most recently I opened an Etsy Shop! Hurrah. And I posted up the first couple of prints that I am making available as Fine Art Giclee prints. They are beautiful and as I'm not selling the originals, they are the next best thing... The colour match is almost perfect to the originals, I was very impressed with the print job. So please check out my new Etsy shop here --> www.amyhooton.etsy.com
Even better news is that I sold the first print of Halloween Tree within 20mins of posting it up. So number 1 is gone. But number 2 is hot on its heels!

I also have my website www.amyhooton.com
And if you're on facebook, you can fan my art page www.facebook.com/amyhootonart
You can also find me on www.amyhooton.deviantArt.com
So I'm everywhere! hahaha (almost.)

Bye for now...

Amy
